Make Your Own Wedding Rings

Sale price £395.00

Make the rings you'll wear for the rest of your lives

In this private wedding ring workshop in Roath, you'll have the whole studio to yourselves while I guide you through each stage of making your perfect rings. Most couples who come to the workshop have never made jewellery before, so you don't need any previous experience, or to be particularly good with your hands. I'll show you exactly what to do, answer every question, and be on hand whenever you need me, so you can relax and enjoy the process. The shaping, soldering and finishing is all done by you, and by the end of the day you'll leave with beautifully finished wedding rings you can't wait to wear.

The day itself is relaxed and unhurried. You'll have the studio to yourselves, with music on, plenty of tea and coffee, and time to stop for lunch. It's a chance to step away from seating plans and timelines for a few hours and simply enjoy making something together.

Worried you might mess up? Honestly, don't. I've been teaching this workshop for years, so I know all the ways things can go wrong and, more importantly, how to fix them. I want you to enjoy making your rings without worrying about making a mistake, so I offer a simple guarantee: if something genuinely goes wrong during the workshop and you're not happy with the result, I'll melt the metal down, prepare it again and remake the rings for you. No one's ever needed to take me up on that offer, but I hope knowing it's there helps you relax and enjoy the day.

Couples often tell me making their wedding rings together was one of their favourite parts of planning their wedding. Instead of simply choosing rings from a display cabinet, they spent a day learning new skills, laughing together, and creating something they'll wear for the rest of their lives.

Workshop Options

Half-day workshop: £395 per couple

Go directly into making your final rings.

Full-day workshop: £495 per couple

Begin by making silver practice rings before creating your final rings.

Most couples choose the full-day workshop as it gives you the chance to practise in silver before making your final rings. However, if you're making your final rings in silver or choosing a simple gold design, the half-day workshop is often all you need.

Final ring metal is charged separately for both options. Wedding ring workshops are held on weekdays, with most availability on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

What's Included

  • Private use of the studio
  • Expert tuition and one-to-one guidance as a couple
  • Use of all tools and equipment
  • A luxury double walnut wooden ring box
  • Silver for your practice rings for full-day workshops
  • Workshop photos: I'll capture photos throughout the day, so you can stay immersed in the experience without worrying about documenting it. I'll send them to you afterwards to keep, share and look back on
  • One complimentary resizing: If your rings need adjusting later, I'll resize them free of charge.

Metals

Final rings can be made in recycled sterling silver or recycled 9ct and 18ct yellow, white, and rose gold alloys. I don't currently offer platinum.

Final ring materials are priced separately according to the design, dimensions, and chosen metal you choose, as well as current metal prices.

Heirloom Gold

If you have inherited or sentimental gold, I'll assess and test the metal before melting it and preparing it into the correct wire profile for your rings.

Preparation is £295 for one wire profile, or £395 where two different wire profiles are required. Depending on the weight of gold you have and the rings you choose to make, additional gold may be needed.

Hallmarking & Engraving

Hallmarking is available for £75 per pair.

Engraving is £100 for both rings and includes insured postage there and back.

Allow around two weeks for hallmarking, and around two weeks for engraving when considering your studio day and wedding date.

Getting Started

The first step is simply to get in touch. I'm happy to provide a no-obligation quote by email, or, if you'd prefer to chat things through first, we can arrange a free consultation at the studio or by video call.

During the consultation we'll look at different widths and profiles, discuss metal options, discuss any questions you have, and work out an initial cost estimate together.

No experience needed: most couples have never made jewellery before.
