Learn the foundations of silversmithing in a relaxed, supportive studio environment and create your own handmade jewellery from scratch.

Perfect for complete beginners, this structured 6-week jewellery making course in Cardiff will guide you step by step through the core techniques of silversmithing while you make a series of beautiful wearable pieces to take home. Each project has been carefully designed to help you build confidence and develop practical jewellery-making skills week by week.

You’ll learn traditional silversmithing techniques including:

– Sawing
– Soldering
– Filing and shaping
– Forming and texturing metal
– Polishing and finishing

Projects

Weeks 1 & 2

Interlocking necklaces or earrings
Learn wire work, shaping and paste soldering techniques while creating delicate minimalist jewellery designs.

Weeks 3 & 4

Classic silver ring
Learn ring sizing, forming, texturing and pallion soldering techniques to create your own sterling silver ring.

Weeks 5 & 6

Saw-pierced statement piece
Create a larger statement necklace, earrings or pendant while learning saw piercing and rolling mill techniques.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with plenty of demonstrations and individual guidance throughout. No experience is needed — just patience, creativity, and a willingness to try something new.

– Copper or brass for the remaining projects (with the option to purchase silver during the course)
